This tour was ground breaking. This was the first time since the line closed and was taken over by the tourist railway that one train has run continuously from Melbourne’s Southern Cross station to Castlemaine then on to the tourist railway and out to Maldon. Previous to this passengers had to change at Castlemaine from the train on the main line to a VGR train on the tourist railway to complete the journey.

Although storm clouds threatened early in the tour, these cleared as we climbed over the great dividing range and the day turned out with some fantastic weather. There was plenty of sun with great photographic opportunities for this historic trip. The transfer to and from the Vline and VGR networks was seamless and we would like to extend out thanks to all those involved. Not only with this facet of the tour but the tour itself. Please enjoy the above photos.
